Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (18-3) has agreed to face the new UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida (15-0) according to MMAWeekly. This fight will happen in either October or November. This fight had been rumored once Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Rashad Evans were announced as coaches of Spike TV’s tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter yeaterday in a Press Release.
Shogun Rua is coming off back to back wins at UFC 93 and UFC 97, where he defeated former UFC champions Mark Coleman and Chuck Liddell. Shogun is best known for being the former PRIDE light heavyweight Grand Prix tournament champion in 2005. In that tournament, Rua defeated Rampage, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira, Alistair Overeem and Ricardo Arona to win the title.
